Reuters just released a report that the healthcare system wastes $800 billion per year, or 1 bailout. How could our trusted U.S. doctors waste that much money in one year? Private jets to Maui? Holiday bonuses? No.
According to the report, 18 percent of the amount is wasted on redundant paperwork and billing. Twenty-two percent is for fraud, including the recent hot trend in Medicare scams(they'll help your grandma get her Hover Round at any cost.) Thirty-seven percent is wasted on overuse of antibiotics and lab tests to prevent malpractice.
This explains why Americans spend more on healthcare and are less healthy than many other developed countries. The Senate is close to passing legislation to start healthcare reform. We can't all agree on specifics of the overhaul, but any plan that will reduce these wastes will make for vast improvement.
If you're concerned about waste at Escobedo Skin Center--don't be. We are truly a paperless office and we never give you labs or medicine you don't need.
